ADVANCING WELLNESS AND RESILIENCE IN EDUCATION

Project AWARE is a 5 year grant funded by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration). Maryland was one of 20 states to receive this grant in 2014, and Baltimore County Public Schools is one of three Local Education Agencies in Maryland implementing the project.

Project AWARE is focused on improving behavioral health awareness among school aged youth and their communities. This is done through training school staff and other adults who interact with youth to be able to identify and respond to mental health issues. The project also focuses on connecting children, youth, and families to behavioral health services.
